John Lewis will become the first UK retailer to sell US bookseller Barnes & Noble’s e-reader the Nook.

Barnes & Noble revealed last week that it was to launch the Nook, which has proved successful in the US, in the UK. At the time Barnes & Noble said it would reveal partnerships with leading retailers at a later date.

John Lewis will sell the Nook Simple Touch and Nook Simple Touch with GlowLight online and in stores from October.

Shoppers will be able to purchase ebooks through the device’s online store www.nook.co.uk.

Barnes & Noble sells its digital products in more than 1,300 of its US stores, as well as through “top” retailers.
