John Lewis has appointed former Figleaves chief operating officer Robin Terrell as managing director of its John Lewis Direct online arm.

Terrell replaces Robert McCarthy, who will leave at the end of May to set up his own business.

Terrell will join John Lewis Direct on April 14 after three years at Figleaves. Before working at the online lingerie company, he was managing director of Amazon for four years.

John Lewis commercial director Phil Hullah said that Terrell will bring “a wealth of first-class online experience and is very passionate about the huge opportunity John Lewis has in online selling and multichannel retailing”.

Terrell added: “This is a great brand committed to delivering the best multichannel customer experience.”
