: Matalan chief linked with position
Value clothing retailer Matalan's chief executive, John King, is likely to be revealed as the new boss of House of Fraser when Icelandic retail investor Baugur completes its takeover of the department store tomorrow.
King's appointment at House of Fraser is likely to signal the departure of John Coleman, who has been chief executive at the department store for the past 10 years. The appointment of King will come as a surprise to the retail sector, because he has never run an upmarket department store before.
Before joining Matalan, King was chief executive of denim brand Lee Cooper and also managed lingerie companies in the UK and US.
King has already resigned from Matalan and is scheduled to leave at the end of December. Matalan is in the process of being taken private by founder John Hargreaves.
