Sports fashion retailer JJB said it remained cautious about the retail market, as it reported total revenue up 1.6 per cent for the 17-week period to November 25.

Like-for-likes also climbed 1.6 per cent. At the group’s retail stores, total revenue for the period was 0.5 per cent, with like-for-likes up 1.4 per cent.

JJB non-executive chairman Roger Lane-Smith said: “We continue to be cautious about the retail market outlook, both in the run-up to Christmas and into 2008.”

The retailer said it does not expect the England team's failure to qualify for the Euro 2008 finals next year to have any material impact on the results of its present accounting period to the end of January 2008. For the next accounting period to January 2009, JJB is not expecting any incremental revenues from Euro 2008.
