JJB Sports has revealed that one of its non-executive directors has retired.

Andrew Thomas was appointed a non-executive director of JJB in October 1994 ahead of its flotation on the London Stock Exchange. The JJB Sports board wished Thomas every success in his continuing business interests.

The sports retailer said it had been mutually decided that now would be the most appropriate time for him to retire, particularly in view of the other changes to the board that were made in the summer of 2007.

He retired on January 1. A JJB Sports spokeswoman said there are no plans to replace Thomas, because the retailer has four non-executive directors on the board already, including Littlewoods chairman and former Next boss David Jones.
