Retailer will sell own golf products across the channels
Sports retailer JJB has acquired Golf TV Group for up to£3.3 million.

The store group has paid an initial£500,000, with£1 million payable across the next four years. Up to a further£1.8 million could be paid, depending on Golf TV's performance.

The acquisition is part of JJB's strategy to become the UK's leading golf retailer. It will sell its own golf products through the two television channels and their associated web sites.

Seymour Pierce analyst Richard Ratner said: 'While JJB has the expertise in the golf area and is keen to expand this product, we would point out that TV as a retail medium can be very expensive until critical mass is achieved, as both N Brown and European Home Retail appear to have found out.'

Golf TV is comprised of The Golf Channel and the Golf TV Pro Shop channel.
