Jigsaw to tackle US market

Fashion retailer Jigsaw will dip its toe into the US market with the opening of its first American store in Los Angeles.

The Santa Monica shop - a joint venture between Jigsaw and a US partner - will open this summer, selling mainly kidswear. A spokeswoman said it was too early to say what the potential for expansion is.

Separately, sister chain Kew - launched last September - is starting a mail-order arm to reach new customers. The spokeswoman said the venture would help Kew expand business via a new channel. Kew already sells online.

The first catalogue, showcasing Kew's spring collection, will be sent to 200,000 people in early March. Five more Kew shops are due to open by April.
