Luxury Italian jewellery retailer Damiani is set to make its debut in the UK with a West End store.

The retailer, which has been eyeing stores in London since last year, has now signed for its first shop, a boutique on Bond Street.

The unit comprises around 550 sq ft (50 sq m), plus basement space, at 11 Old Bond Street.

Damiani will begin fitting out the store in the coming months and aims to be open by the end of the year.

The retailer will aim to target the high end of the jewellery market, sitting alongside luxury brands such as Tiffany.

It sells platinum, silver and gold jewellery and watches, including rings that retail for upwards of£3,000 and bracelets priced at around£5,000.

It is not known what the retailer’s plans for future growth in the UK are, but elsewhere it has focused almost entirely on major cities, with one or two stores in locations including Paris and Moscow.

Damiani Group retail manager Carlo Longagnani said: “Our policy is to be in locations where the most well known international luxury and fashion brands take place and where a brand such as Damiani can find the right placement.

“This is why we have decided to be in London. The boutique will mainly be a ‘brand image operation’, considering that the London market offers great visibility to the brands who operate there.”

Damiani is represented all over the world, in standalone boutique stores and through authorised dealers. It has around 40 points of sale across the US, Europe and Asia.

As part of a push to expand in the Middle East, it recently signed for a store in the Dubai Mall, adding to its portfolio in the region, which also includes a shop in Kuwait City.

Damiani is also expanding its presence in Hong Kong, Taiwan, Japan, Russia and Kazakhstan.

In the UK it has appointed CB Richard Ellis as its solely retained agent.
