Home shopping retailer JD Williams is aiming to maximise the performance of its websites using application reporting software from CA.

JD Williams head of computer services Jeff Cattle said that the company’s sites are taking about £1 million and receiving up to a 250,000 visitors each day, so it is vital that the company has visibility of what is happening.

The company has around 50 sites, all served by the same IBM platform.

It is introducing CA Wily Introscope to report on web application performance and to create a barometer to provide a simple desktop view of the experience visitors to the site receive.

Around 20 to 30 users within the IT department will be able to view the reporting dashboard, and ideally detect problems and react to them quickly before they affect customers.

Cattle added that it is crucial for the company to have robust web systems and the reporting software will make this easier to achieve: “One of the things we are looking for Wily to deliver is increased stability of the systems. Staff will be able to concentrate less on how the systems are performing as they will have the information they need at their fingertips.”
