JC Penney is no stranger to controversy after chief executive Ron Johnson was ousted in April amid sinking sales.

However, it could have found itself in hot water because of a distinct looking kettle. Social media went wild last week as many consumers pointed out that the Michael Graves kettle on its website resembled Adolf Hitler. But, rather than cause annoyance for JC Penney, it boosted sales and the product sold out. The $40 kettle is now up for sale for $199 on eBay.
