Own-label brands are growing share in the Indian market, according to a KPMG report.

Research by the global consultant said that private label now makes up between 10 to 12 per cent of the retail product market in India.

This figure is expected to increase as retailers seek to up profitability. Industry leaders such as Trent and Reliance Retail are spearheading the way by ramping up their own brand penetration, which offers them higher margins and the ability to give customers cheaper prices.
