Office Depot unveils first new small format store

Office Depot has unveiled its first new small format store, which it hopes will become a prototype across the US. The revamped Office Depot in Springfield, Illinois, has been downsized from roughly 27,000 sq ft to 18,000 sq ft, and while SKUs have had to be rationalised, a reduction in product range has been kept to a minimum.

Office Depot said that it planned to focus an increasing amount on technology and support in its smaller format store.
