Belgian grocery group Louis Delhaize is to exit its Caribbean markets.
Subsidiary SISB is up for sale in Guadeloupe, French Guiana, Martinique, St Martin and St Barthelemy. Around the region, the group operates four Cora hypermarkets, 15 Match supermarkets, 57 Ecomax discount stores, one Leader Price discount store, a wholesale unit and 11 depots.
The group generated sales of €543m (£490.1m) last year. SISB’s small formats have reportedly been snapped up by Système U and local franchisees of Casino and Carrefour. The future of the Cora hypermarkets remains unclear.
