Hypermarket operator Auchan revealed that consolidated group revenue excluding taxes grew 0.5% to €39.7bn (£35.4bn) in 2009.
Group revenue decreased 2.8% in Western Europe due to the economic slowdown. This zone continues to account for more than 76% of the group’s revenue.
Revenue grew 12.9% in Central and Eastern Europe and Asia, despite the negative impact of foreign exchange rates. Like-for-like revenue declined 1.2%, while net profit for 2009 decreased 9.1% to €661m (£589m).
