International News - Mine opens in Barcelona with 100-store plan

Fledgling accessories chain Mine is poised for expansion in Spain, after opening its first store in Barcelona.

The brainchild of retail consultancy Working Week, with initial funding of£500,000 from UK investors, the retailer is set to grow to about 100 shops in Spain, followed by European-wide expansion.

Although a UK venture, there are no British shops. Working Week managing director Wayne Wright said Spain was chosen because women there spend more on fashion accessories than those in any other European country.

'We've done all of the research and planning, and chose Spain because of its booming economy and Spanish women's infatuation with accessories,' he said.
