Swedish furniture retailer Ikea is celebrating its 21st birthday in the UK this month with the launch of a coffee table book and marketing campaign.

As the second tranche of its “Home is the Most Important Place in the World” campaign, Ikea has sponsored the UK at Home book, documenting domestic life in the UK in 2008. The book carries 279 images, including sculptor Johnny Woodford’s wooden Ark home (right). There is a foreword by Sir Paul McCartney and essays from writers including Will Self.

The launch will be backed by a TV documentary, as well as national and regional print, radio and e-mail activity.
