Chester to see department store open in four years
House of Fraser will open a new store in Chester by 2008. The 125,000 sq ft (11,610 sq m) store will anchor the 440,000 sq ft (40,875 sq m) Northgate Centre development in the city centre. Work is expected to start on the site in 2005.

The announcement comes as the retailer is planning a total of 720,000 sq ft (66,890 sq ft) of new selling space with additional store openings in Maidstone, Dublin, Norwich, Belfast and High Wycombe.

House of Fraser chief executive John Coleman said: 'Securing this important site in Chester is great news for House of Fraser as we continue to roll out our store portfolio development programme. Chester is a new and exciting market for us and we believe our offer will significantly enhance shopping in the city.'
