Mark Gifford has taken over the role of chief financial officer at House of Fraser as the group celebrates its first anniversary under Baugur-led ownership.

Gifford replaces Stefan Cassar, who was part of the£351 million acquisition of the business by Highland consortium in November last year and agreed to stay with the company for one year to implement its new strategy.

Gifford has taken a position on the board of directors, along with commercial director Colin Porter.

Chairman Don McCarthy said: “Stefan has been an invaluable asset over the past 12 months and his experience and expertise will be missed by everyone. This is not a farewell to Stefan, however, as he will continue to be part of the board as a non-executive director and investor in the business.”
