Shopper numbers down 5.6 per cent
Footfall levels declined for the second week in a row, as the hot weather continued to keep people away from the high street.

Shopper numbers were down 5.6 per cent between July 17 and July 23 compared with the same week last year, according to the latest figures from FootFall. Week-on-week numbers fell by 0.9 per cent.

On Wednesday July 19 - the hottest July day since records began - footfall fell 7.3 per cent.

FootFall spokeswoman Natasha Burton said: 'Even the sudden outbreak of storms and the start of some high-profile Sales failed to lift numbers.'
