Regent Street’s Christmas lights will be sponsored by Dreamworks’ new animated film Mr Peabody and Sherman this year in the shopping destination’s biggest ever festive display.

The lights will depict characters from the 20th Century Fox and Dreamworks film when the switch is flicked on November 9.

To celebrate the occasion, landlord The Crown Estate is throwing a traffic-free party, allowing shoppers to grab their Christmas gifts. Regent Street fashion brands including Jaeger, Calvin Klein, Tom Hilfiger and Juicy Couture will showcase their clothing on a catwalk fashion show.

The day will be hosted by Heart 106.2 radio presenters Emma Bunton and Jamie Theakston.

David Shaw, head of Regent Street portfolio at The Crown Estate, said:  “The animated film Mr. Peabody and Sherman is a perfect match for our Christmas lights celebrations in that it supports our values of quality, heritage style and success.

“The festive shopping season always kicks off with the Regent Street Christmas lights, and this year we have delivered yet more exciting new retailing including Longchamp, J Crew, & Other Stories and United Nude Shoes.”

Mr Peabody and Sherman is released on February 7, which tells the story of Mr Peabody, the world’s smartest talking dog and his adopted human son, Sherman, who embark on time-travelling adventure.

Chris Green, theatrical marketing director at Twentieth Century Fox, said. “On Saturday November 9 there will be an all-day road closure for VIPeabody Day which will include fun-filled entertainment for the entire family with a fireworks display following the switch-on moment.”
