Asda to train more than 1,500 apprentices this year

Asda will take on more than 1,500 apprentices this year as the grocer ramps up its recruitment drive.

The supermarket giant is extending the number of apprenticeship programmes it offers to 37. It will take on trainee solicitors, software testers and data scientists.

Asda said the programmes will vary in length from one to six years.

Asda’s senior director for talent and capability Kate Fisher said: “We all know that the way we shop has changed, and at Asda we want to make sure our colleagues have all the skills they need to offer our customers the great service they expect in this new environment.”
