Co-op to trial 100% compostable wrappers at Glastonbury

The Co-op has unveiled plans to sell sandwiches in 100% compostable plastic wrapping as part of a trial it will be undertaking at its pop-up c-store at this year’s Glastonbury festival.

The convenience grocer said the trial will be the first in the UK, and claimed all elements of the packaging - including the label and base card - are fully compostable.

The retailer will be selling ten sandwiches wrapped in this plastic at its Glastonbury pop-up, along with water in recyclable aluminium cans and refillable bottles.

The introduction of the Westfield brand across continental Europe was announced when Unibail-Rodamco acquired Westfield in 2018 to form Unibail-Rodamco-Westfield.
