Currys and PC World owner Dixons has revealed which products it expects to be top sellers this Christmas.

Chief executive Sebastian James told Retail Week it will be a “tablet Christmas” and expects devices including the iPad Air and the Advent Vega Tegra Note 7 to be popular.

Dixons group commercial director Steve Ager said the retailer had taken into account its experience last Christmas, when 40% of tablets bought as presents at the retailer were returned after Christmas, and hasbought product accordingly.

Ager said that small kitchen appliances including Kitchenaid products, juicers and healthy fryers are expected to be popular presents.

He said: “This is the area after tablet that we have seen the biggest uplift in sales. We expect this market to grow by about 40% over Christmas.”

He added that coffee makers and accessories are also expected to perform strongly.

Dixons yesterday held its Peak 2013 conference in Birmingham hosting its top suppliers. At the event, suppliers met with its store staff to discuss how to explain their products’ funcitons to customers.
