Fashion giant H&M has committed to source all cotton from sustainable sources by 2020 at the latest.

Sustainable cotton is a key area for fashion retailers. Marks & Spencer has already committed to sourcing 25% of cotton from sustainable sources by 2015 and 50% by 2020.

In H&M’s latest sustainability report, released this week, it said it had exceeded its carbon emissions reduction for 2005 to 2009 and has educated more than 150,000 of its suppliers’ employees in Bangladesh on their rights at work.

As part of its CSR programme on May 20 it will launch a festival collection in its stores with fashion and accessories must-haves for customers over the festival season.

It will donate 25% of the sales from the range to youth HIV and Aids awareness projects.
