Retail news round-up October 10, 2013: Ted Baker launches ‘tongue-in-cheek’ fashion and style blog; Home Bargains plans 400 new stores as it builds new £70m warehouse

Home Bargains plans to open 400 news stores in five years as it builds new £70m distribution centre

Home Bargains is planning to more than double its store estate to 700 in the next five years as it builds a £70m cutting edge distribution centre in South Wiltshire to support the expansion.

The value retailer, which currently operates 300 stores, wants to open 400 new stores by 2018.

It has already started work on a warehouse after it acquired a 64 acre site at Solstice Park in Amesbury, south Wiltshire, in August. Home Bargains is aiming to start operating the distribution centre in September 2015.

Ted Baker London teams up with HUSH to launch StreetWinker.com

Ted Baker London has collaborated with New York agency HUSH to launch StreetWinker.com, a style blog with fashion and etiquette expert Redge Blaker.

The tongue-in-cheek blog features video shorts, digital ‘winks’ - short clips which help teach you manners such as how to twirl your moustache - and blog posts, or ‘Teditorials’ as the Ted Baker promotes its autumn/winter collection, according to Campaign Brief.

Ted Baker worked with Gavin McInnes, co-founder of Vice and Rooster, to craft the sardonic Redge Blaker persona featured on the site.
