Amazon and Forever 21 to bid for American Apparel

Amazon and Forever 21 are among the retailers planning to acquire American Apparel after it filed for bankruptcy in November 2015, The Irish Times reported.

Amazon, Forever 21, Next Level Apparel and Authentic Brands Group are in talks with American Apparel and its financial advisers about submitting bids ahead of the deadline.

The deadline for the bid is January 7 with an outcome expected by next week.

American Apparel declined to comment.

Retail sales increase in Ireland

Retail sales in Ireland increased 4.3% in November compared with the same period in 2015, according to the latest statistics from the Central Statistics Office (CSO), The Independent reported.

The sales in November rose 0.9% compared with the previous month.

The monthly increase stands at 3.1% if car sales are excluded from the figures.

The biggest jump in November was in the purchase of electrical goods, which rose by 17% compared with the month before.
