- Revenue up 14.6% to ÂŁ157.9m
- Like-for-like order intake up 2.7%
- EBITDA was ÂŁ0.1m
ScS, the sofas and floorings specialist, has reported a rise in interim profits and expects to meet full-year expectations.

The retailer moved to EBITDA of ÂŁ0.1m compared with a loss of ÂŁ1m in the comparable period last year, and revenue climbed 14.6% to ÂŁ157.9m.
At an operating level, losses were cut to ÂŁ2.6m from ÂŁ3.4m in the 26 weeks to January 28.
Highlights of the period included the performance of concessions in House of Fraser department stores, which achived a rise in gross sales of 22.9% to ÂŁ12.8m as consumer awareness increased, and an increase in online gross sales of 25% to ÂŁ5.4m.
Including the period since the half-year end, the 33 weeks to March 18, like-for-like order intake growth was 0.9%, which the retailer described as âa pleasing performance against very strong prior year comparativesâ, representative of two-year like-for-like order intake growth of 12.5%.
ScS reported that trading in February was challenging, âlargely driven by reduced footfallâ, but there has been an improvement since the start of March.
Meeting expectations
ScS chief executive David Knight said: âWe remain mindful that the group still faces the key Easter and May bank holiday trading periods and faces very strong comparatives during the remainder of the year.
âThe board believes the business remains in a strong position to maximise opportunities as they arise and to grow market share.
âGiven the year-to-date performance of the business, the board currently expects results for the financial year to be in line with expectations.â
Broker N+1 Singe observed: âWhilst interim results are complicated by timing differences around order deliveries (flattery of cÂŁ1.9m) and rephasing of marketing (drag of cÂŁ1.9m), adjusted EBITDA improved by cÂŁ1.7m on an underlying basis â moving ScS into positive territory in its historically loss-making first half.
âGood progress was made on all four growth strategies. Whilst like-for-like order intake is down c5% to 6% in current trading, this reflects weak retail park footfall in February, not a conversion issue.â
