Habitat has launched its first click-and-collect service, enabling customers to pick up small homeware products ordered online from over 2,300 locations.
The Sainsbury’s-owned retailer – striving to keep pace with evolving consumer demands – hopes to bolster its digital proposition and make the Habitat shopping experience more convenient.
From today shoppers can order small Habitat items, such as lamps, small flat-pack furniture, textiles, tableware and decorative accessories, to be collected from Habitat’s standalone stores and 2,300 DPD pick-up points across the UK.
The DPD network includes over 200 Sainsbury’s supermarkets.
The move follows a major upgrade of the retailer’s website 18 months ago.
Managing director Clare Askem said: “The way our customers want to shop with us is changing and we’ve worked hard at evolving our digital offer at pace to meet this demand.
“Over 60% of our sales are now generated online, so giving customers the choice of fast delivery to a collection point close to where they live or work at a time that’s convenient makes sound business sense.
“Our customers increasingly want speed, flexibility and choice and our aim is to develop the Habitat brand into a multi-channel business for the digital age, more accessible to an increasingly online customer base and to provide a flexible delivery proposition that works around modern life.”
Askem told Retail Week that the new smaller stores were progressing well and were being tweaked and refined as the trial progressed.
