European home and DIY platform ManoMano has reported soaring sales in 2020 driven by an uptick in UK demand.

In 2020 ManoMano recorded overall sales of £1.2bn, increasing 100% year on year.

The DIY website now receives more than 50 million unique visits per month on average, 70% more than in 2019.

In the UK alone ManoMano’s sales grew 240% year on year to £105m, with more than 100 million products now on offer.

ManoMano has identified the UK as a key area for growth as digital penetration in the UK only stands at 21%.

The retailer, which was founded in France in 2013, has made plans to introduce additional services to support its growing seller base and is also investing further in UK marketing, including TV.

ManoMano currently has 650 employees, including 200 new recruits made in 2020, and plans to add 350 more members to the team this year in a bid to expand its European footprint.

As well as targeting the UK ManoMano has set goals to increase its presence in northern Europe in 2021, particularly in Germany.

Co-founders and co-CEOs Philippe de Chanville and Christian Raisson said: “The year 2020 has been marked by a considerable increase in European consumers’ digital expectations for DIY, garden and home products.

“It is thanks to the commitment and resilience of our teams and our retail partners that we have been able to meet this demand and we would like to thank them for this.”

Chief operating officer Céline Vuillequez added: “This year is shaping up to be a year of consolidation of our product and service offerings for our customers, both individuals and professionals, and our merchant partners. It will also be a year of strong European acceleration in all our countries, particularly in the United Kingdom and Germany.”
