Cath Kidston has poached Melinda Paraie, an executive at American jewellery business John Hardy, to become its new boss.
Paraie, whom Cath Kidston descried as a “global brandbuilder”, will succeed the outgoing Kenny Wilson on June 18.
The appointment comes just four days after it emerged Wilson was quitting the fashion and homewares retailer to take the reins at Dr Martens.
Paraie is currently the chief merchandising officer at New York-based John Hardy and has previously worked at Gap, J Crew and luxury handbag specialist Coach.
She will move from her New York home to take up the role at Cath Kidston’s West London head offices.
Paraie said: “Cath Kidston has a wonderfully light-hearted charm and modern appeal, and its cheerful story resonates with existing and new customers.
“As an American, I love the uniquely British characteristics of the brand which has worked so well in international markets and I am ready to now enhance the emotional connection which the brand has with its customers.”
