Second exec to go in two months

HMV non-executive chairman Robin Miller has resigned from the group’s board. Miller’s resignation will become effective on Thursday and he will then concentrate on other business interests.

David Kappler is being appointed in the interim, until a permanent replacement can be found.

Miller was formerly chief executive of Retail Week publisher Emap. He is chairman of Boosey & Hawkes and a non-executive director of Channel 4 Television. Other commitments include Classic Copyright, Sport England (eastern region) and the Golf Foundation.

Kappler said: ‘On behalf of the board of HMV Group, I would like to thank Robin Miller for his contribution as chairman and wish him every success in the future. The board will now begin the process to appoint a permanent successor, and in the meantime I look forward to continuing to work with my fellow directors on the group’s further progress.’

Miller is the second executive to step down in two months. Chief operating officer Brian McLaughlin announced his retirement from the post on June 28, although he has agreed to stay on as a non-executive director.
