No decision until early December
HMV will have to wait until early December to find out whether or not its bid to take over book chain Ottakar's can go ahead.
The Office of Fair Trading announced today that a decision on whether to refer the offer to the Competition Commission will not be announced until December 2.
HMV said in a statement: 'Accordingly, the offer will be extended and remain open for acceptance until 1pm on December 7.'
HMV's Waterstone's business and Ottakar's would have a combined market share of 23.6 per cent and potential sales of£620 million if the bid is approved.
