HEC buys rival In-Store Movies to boost c-stores

Home Entertainment Corporation (HEC), owner of video chain Choices, has acquired In-Store Movies to bolster its presence in the convenience sector.

HEC's Video Box Office is the largest supplier to video rental convenience retailers, and its acquisition of number two player In-Store Movies will enable it to benefit from economies of scale.

HEC chairman Iain Muspratt said: 'In-Store Movies is Video Box Office's longest established and largest independent competitor. Its acquisition will enable the company to achieve further profitable growth in the convenience store sector.'

In-Store Movies managing director Roger Hall said: 'The deal will give customers access to a greater range of products.'
