Lloydspharmacy will not replace former managing director Tony Page after forming a new UK country board to oversee a shared operations strategy with its sister wholesale firm, All About Health (AAH).

Page, a former Woolworths managing director for commercial and marketing, exited in January after just a year in the role.

The new strategy could result in redundancies. A Lloydspharmacy spokeswoman said: “Any proposals which have employment implications will be subject to consultation with those who may be affected.”

However, there are no consultations in progress at present.

The health and pharmaceutical retailer and AAH are both owned by German parent Celesio.

Lloydspharmacy said the restructure makes the role of managing director redundant.

Former AAH group managing director Mark James is chief executive of the newly formed Celesio UK country board.

James is joined by former AAH finance director Thorsten Beer, who becomes chief financial officer.

Steve Anderson, former AAH operations director, becomes chief operating officer, while former Lloydspharmacy healthcare services director Steve Gray becomes chief commercial officer.

The strategy is designed to merge some back office and operational functions across Lloydspharmacy and AAH, according to the spokeswoman.

She said that while the details are still being ironed out, the shift will enable the retailer to focus on “innovative retail concepts” and a more efficient supply chain.

Lloydspharmacy is testing two healthcare villages which house a range of healthcare and wellbeing shops under one roof for the first time. The management reshuffle follows a restructure in February of the healthcare services department – which handles business-to-business activity – and which is likely to lead to four redundancies at the end of a consultation period.

AAH provides pharmacies, including Lloydspharmacy, hospitals and dispensing doctors with distribution, business and clinical support services.
