Cosmetics specialist Body Shop has hired former Uniqlo director Simon Coble as its new UK boss.

Coble left Japanese fashion retailer Uniqlo, where he was UK chief executive, in July and joins Body Shop as general manager on January 1.

He replaces Paul Kimberley, who moves to the US to head up The Body Shop’s Americas business as managing director.

A spokeswoman for The Body Shop said: “Simon joins The Body Shop with a significant depth of retail experience and leadership gained from a strong career working for Arcadia and Uniqlo.”

The ethical cosmetics retailer, which is owned by beauty giant L’Oreal, reported like-for-like sales up 2.6% in the first half of the year. The Body Shop has 2,645 stores globally, including more than 300 in UK and Ireland.

It is understood Coble was placed in the role by headhunter MBS Group.
