Health and beauty giant Boots UK has named a new customer and marketing chief.

Charlotte Lock

Charlotte Lock

Charlotte Lock has joined Boots UK as customer and marketing director. Lock was formerly pan-partnership customer director at the John Lewis Partnership, where she spent three years until June.

Lock also brings experience from the Co-op, where she was director of loyalty, data and digital products, and held a variety of positions at the BBC.

Boots chief customer and commercial officer Steve Ager said: “We’re pleased to welcome Charlotte Lock to Boots as our customer and marketing director.

“Charlotte joins us with deep expertise in developing leading customer journeys for loved retail brands and creating seamless connections across marketing, branding and loyalty initiatives.

“We’re excited about Charlotte’s appointment as we continue our successful transformation focused on delivering exceptional experiences for our customers and upholding our brand promise: ‘With you. For life.’”

Lock joins Boots at a time of change for the high street institution. In August, the Boots Group – which owns businesses including Boots Opticians and No7 Beauty Company as well as the health and beauty business – became a standalone private company following its acquisition by Sycamore Partners. The deal came alongside the purchase of former Boots parent Walgreens Boots Alliance, also by Sycamore.

Tycoon Stefano Pessina, who had previously taken Boots private before buying Walgreens, remains the main investor in Boots alongside Sycamore.
