Beauty retailer Bodycare is set to return to the high street with 17 new stores, after it was bought out of administration in October.

The embattled retailer saw all of its 147 stores close in September, but it announced a return to retail in April this year following an acquisition by an investment group backed by the former chief executive of The Body Shop and Molton Brown, Charles Denton.

Six stores were initially announced for its return: Merry Hill in Dudley, Derbion in Derby, The Moor in Sheffield, Highcross in Leicester, The Mall in Blackburn, and St Johns in Leeds.

Bodycare plans to open 15 stores in one year, according to its website.

The new shops are set to feature content creator studios, which will include new products, demonstration zones and live broadcast studios. The locations are mostly in the North and the Midlands.

The first confirmed opening is in Sheffield’s The Moor Shopping Centre later this month.

The retailer also announced a partnership with PMC to become the UK’s “first AI retailer”, by creating an infrastructure to “run all store operations through a proprietary, custom-built AI platform”.
