Harrods' men's department set for an update

Harrods will modernise its traditional menswear area this year, as part of ongoing refurbishment of its Knightsbridge flagship.

A spokesman said work would start on the ground-floor suits area at the 'back end' of the year. The update follows the overhaul of men's contemporary and designerwear. There are also plans to redevelop the fine jewellery room.

The spokesman said the store had been trading well, strengthening the body of evidence supporting a central London trading rebound.

Luxury peer Fortnum & Mason said last week that sales in the current financial year were running 8 per cent ahead.
