Harrods chief executive James McArthur has left the business after less than a year in the role.

McArthur, who has previously held senior positions at Gucci, Balenciaga and Yves Saint Laurent, was appointed chief executive in April, charged with overseeing Harrods’ strategic operations.

Harrods’ businesses include its airport operations as well as the flagship iconic store.

It is the latest in a string of senior level departures at the retailer in recent years.

Michael Ward remains managing director of the Knightsbridge store.
