Opening marks start of expansion into East Asia
Value fashion retailer H&M is launching a store in Hong Kong - its first in East Asia - this weekend.

The store, which is about 37,675 sq ft (3,500 sq m) in size, will offer an extensive range of clothing for men, women, teenagers and children.

H&M chief executive Rolf Eriksen said: 'We are very proud to open our first store in Hong Kong. China is a strategic and exciting market with great fashion awareness and spending power. We therefore see a vast potential for expansion. We are convinced that we can offer our Hong Kong customers added value through fashion and quality at the best price.'

H&M head of design Margareta van den Bosch teamed up with Madonna to create a unique range of clothes this season called M by Madonna. The collection will go on sale in Hong Kong two weeks before it launches globally. The line includes glamorous tops, tailored blazers, shirt dresses and kimono-shaped dresses.

The retailer is also opening two stores in Shanghai in April and plans to open a further three outlets in Hong Kong later in the year.
