Halfords plans major service for IT systems

Car accessory and bicycle retailer Halfords has contracted a SAP-based overhaul of its IT systems from integrator Novasoft. The move follows the retailer's acquisition by CVC Venture Capital Partners from the Boots Company last year.

The decision to integrate its systems over to SAP Retail reflects not only the company's strategy to increase the stability of its information systems overall, but also to improve processes in its category management, HR, financial and supply chain.

Merchandising is also a central component in Halfords' choice to award the contract to improve stock availability and reduce stock holding. The implementation will be completed within 20 months, with Novasoft partner ITNet providing the ongoing hosting, support and management of the system.

Head of retail for SAP UK Will O'Brien said: 'SAP Retail combines supply chain logic with customer relationship management, enabling retailers like Halfords to exploit multiple sales channels.'
