McClenaghan fills new chief's old role
Halfords has appointed Paul McClenaghan as trading director with immediate effect. He was formerly Dixons Group trading director for vision and auto, with responsibility for buying, marketing and merchandise planning across the UK. He was at Dixons for 17 years.

McClenaghan takes the role four months after previous trading director Ian McLeod climbed into the driving seat as chief executive, following the departure of former boss David Hamid.

McLeod said: 'Paul's skills and expertise will complement our business development hugely and we are delighted to welcome someone of his calibre and enthusiasm to the team.'

Halfords produced a strong set of maiden preliminary results in June. The bikes-to-car-parts retailer increased turnover by 8.6 per cent to£628.4 million in the 52 weeks to April 1. Like-for-like sales for the period were up 8.9 per cent.
