The second phase of Liverpool One opened on Wednesday with a ceremony attended by The Princess Royal.

The 1 million sq ft retail element of the scheme is now fully open after the first phase was unveiled in May.

Grosvenor has completed a series of signings to Peter’s Lane in the run up to today’s opening, including local independent brands Drome, Foot Asylum, Onitsuka Tiger, Leia and Waterstone's.

With these and other restaurant signings the scheme is now 92 per cent let.

A report published by Colliers CRE now places zone A rents in Liverpool above Manchester for the first time and cites Liverpool One’s role on boosting the city’s place in the region.

Footfall in Liverpool increased 24 per cent in July compared with the same period last year, although this has also been lifted by the city’s position as European Capital of Culture.

The scheme’s restaurant and leisure elements also opened today, as did the park.

Grosvenor head of retail leasing Neil Barber said: “It’s been great. The place is heaving and the streets are now fully open. Talking to people on the streets they’re wowed, especially by the park.

“It’s good to have Karen Millen, Jones and Ted Baker open now. The city has reinforced its position in the hierarchy and that’s very pleasing.”
