Tesco is ramping up its activity around Black Friday with 11 days of deals starting from Monday.

More than 700 Tesco stores will be offering Black Friday deals, with 650 items on promotion during the bonanza, the grocery giant said.

The retailer, the fortunes of which are being revived under boss Dave Lewis, has described it as its “biggest ever” Black Friday event.

Rival Morrisons has started rolling on Black Friday offers on alcohol today, while it remains unclear whether Asda will get involved in the sales extravaganza this year.

More than 300 Tesco stores will open at 5am on Black Friday itself.

Tesco Extra stores that are 24 hours will close at midnight on November 24 to prepare for the event.

Deals will include up to 50% off “selected” items across electrical, toys and home.

The event will run on the Tesco Direct website from Monday to Thursday December 1.

Matt Davies, Tesco’s UK and Republic of Ireland chief executive, said: “We’re launching our best ever Black Friday event, providing customers with more time than ever before to take advantage of some great deals.”

In its half-year, Tesco reported a 0.6% rise in UK like-for-likes.

Last year Tesco’s website received seven orders per second with a total of 220,000 orders during Black Friday.

The best-selling ranges were TVs, tablets, gaming consoles and small domestic appliances, the retailer said.

Amazon launched a 12-day Black Friday bonanza on Monday, while rival Argos will launch 13 days of sales from tomorrow.
