Tesco is restructuring its middle management in a shake-up that could lead to positions at the UK’s largest grocer being cut.

Tesco is shaking up management a level below senior management to remove duplication between central and local country operations, the Financial Times reported.

The restructure is expected to impact roles at its head office in Cheshunt and its Welwyn Garden City office.

Retail Week revealed last year that Tesco had made cuts to executive level management. The departures included Tesco Clubcard marketing director Ian Crook and Tesco Mobile chief executive Roger Fogg.

Tesco chief executive Philip Clarke has said the grocer is studying the impact of the changes that multichannel is having on retail skills.
