Tesco chief executive Philip Clarke has been banned from driving for six months after he was caught speeding.

Clarke received the automatic ban after collecting more than 12 points on his license, The Sunday Times reported.

Tesco said: “Philip Clarke regrets this matter and accepts the decision to suspend his licence.”

The ban is unlikely to affect Clarke’s ability to run the UK’s largest grocer as he has use of a driver.

Clarke drives a Jaguar XJ and it is understood the speeding penalty was not incurred on his five mile commute from his home in Cuffley, Hertfordshire to the retailer’s head office in Cheshunt.
