Sainsbury’s is taking on sandwich specialists with a new fascia

The grocer yesterday unveiled foodservice format Sainsbury’s Fresh Kitchen, which may enable it to make further inroads into the lucrative lunchtime sandwich and snack market.

The store, on London’s Fleet Street, features a black and white interior with dark wood around the upper perimeter and slate grey terrazzo tiles on the floor.

Product is housed in chillers around the perimeter with additional impulse purchases on shelves attached to the queuing system. A graphic showing menu options fills the wall behind the service and payment counter at the rear of the shop.

The store was designed by London design consultancy Twelve Studio.
