Usdaw members have approved Morrisons’ proposed pay rise for store and manufacturing staff, which will see hourly rates rise to over £13 an hour by October.
As was first reported on April 22 by Retail Week, the grocery giant has proposed to stagger its pay rise over three tranches this year, alongside a rise in the national living wage on March 30 to £12.71 an hour.
The first tranche will be backdated to March 30, and see customer assistant pay increase to £12.81.
The next rise will come in from July 20 and see the base pay rate jump again to £13, followed by the third and final rise on October 26, which will see it jump to £13.11.
Morrisons will also give all eligible hourly staff a one-off fixed payment of between £25 and £175 based on contractual hours on May 29.
The grocer’s pay proposals were approved by 91.9% of trade union voting members in a ballot which ran between April 15 and May 6.
“We’re pleased that we can now implement the pay proposal and increase pay for our colleagues to reward them for the contribution they make to our business,” said Morrisons group people director Jodie Keating.
“I would like to thank all our colleagues for everything they continue to do for Morrisons.”
