Supermarket chain Morrisons is offering a 10% discount for NHS staff for the next 12 weeks on all purchases.

Morrisons announced the 10% discount today for what the supermarket chain called “all NHS heroes” to support staff through the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.

The discount will come into effect on Thursday and will be available to all 1.5 million NHS workers and will last until July 12 when it will be reviewed.

The grocer said that NHS staff can present their ID card to receive the discount on all shopping in Morrisons stores.

Chief executive of Morrisons, David Potts said: “This discount is our thank you to all those working in the National Health Service at this very difficult time. We are giving them our full support and gratitude as they continue to care for and support the nation during the Covid-19 pandemic.”

It follows other measures the supermarket has taken including introducing an NHS shopping hour between 6am and 7am Monday to Saturday and from 9am to 9.30am on Sundays and click and collect food box deliveries from hospital car park giving NHS staff access to groceries.
