Majestic Wine has announced an expansion of its partnership with Deliveroo, both in terms of delivery locations as well as range.

The bricks-and-mortar wine specialist said that it would be adding an additional 50 sites to the Deliveroo app, bringing the total number of stores delivering to 80 across the UK.

The retailer also said it would be extending the range available for delivery to include more than 50 wines, champagnes and spirits, which it said would be “particularly helpful” for customers still under lockdown.

Some of the new sites now available for delivery include Nottingham, Reading, Bristol, Birmingham, Cardiff, Glasgow and six new stores across Greater London.

Majestic chief commercial officer Robert Cooke said: “Wine is something which continues to provide joy and discovery within our own walls, even in the face of Covid-19. We are always looking for new ways to help our customers keep making those discoveries whilst in lockdown and beyond, as safely and interactively as possible”.

The announcement represented another coup for Deliveroo, which has been on a roll striking new retail delivery partnerships since the virus forced the UK into lockdown.

On Monday, the delivery app confirmed a tie-up with discounter Aldi, and since March has reached deals with Marks & Spencer, McColls and Morrisons.

Vice president of new business at Deliveroo, Ajay Lakhwani said: “We are delighted to announce this major expansion with Majestic Wine, the UK’s leading specialist in wine, and play our role in making sure households have access to everything they need and want during Covid-19.”
